Habilitation VI UK endorses and supports the implementation of the CFVI and were involved in it’s creation from inception to fruition.
Children and young people with vision impairment should benefit from consistent education provision across the UK. The Curriculum Framework for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (CFVI) is the overarching framework that has been developed to guide the work of specialist practitioners in the UK to ensure that all learners with vision impairment have access to equitable and inclusive education. The CFVI can also be used to enable parents and carers to understand the pathway of support for their child and details the key areas in which CYP with a VI and their families.
One of the most important factors has been raising the profile of Habilitation and the expectations of parents and carers about exactly what support their child should be able to access. It has also introduced a shared vocabulary that that benefits CYPVI, their families and professionals, and clarifies further the detail of that support and training.
Habilitation Specialists across the country deliver training to children and young people that meets and exceeds the specifications of the CFVI.
